Job description

We are now looking for a Manager & Assistant Manager for our Bathroom team during the festival!

The Bathroom Manager will deploy all aspects of the Site Bathroom Plan in an effective and efficient manner. They will ensure all bathroom infrastructure is in working order, correctly placed, and functioning for showtime, and will report any deficiencies in bathroom infrastructure that are not immediately repairable to the Maintenance Manager. The Bathroom Manager will order all necessary supplies for servicing this infrastructure and supervise a crew in an accountable and efficient manner to ensure all work is executed in alignment with Shambhala Music Festival Ltd. (SMF) Policies. They will operate safely and care for all vehicles and equipment being operated, uphold all documentation and systems required for the safe and efficient workflow of the site, and ensure all required servicing, winterizing, inventory, and storage for their department take place post-show.

Position Dates:

  • Manager: June 23 - August 1, 2025
  • Assistant Manager: July 7 - August 1, 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Daily Toolbox Talks Safety meetings and all required SiteDocs safety documentation.
  • Complete all necessary SiteDocs Sign-Offs for your department.
  • Arrive to work on time, well rested, sober and prepared for the weather/work situation.
  • Supervise a large Crew and ensure compliance with all SMF Policies and WorkSafeBC OHS standards as outlined in your Supervisor Training.
  • File all daily paperwork, and participate in adding to Site’s Organizational and Planning Tools (Basecamp).
  • Correspond with potential hires and rental agencies.
  • Deploy department specific training plan and Site Plan effectively and in compliance.
  • Keep an accurate and up to date inventory of all department specific stock, schedule orders.
  • Communicate required items for procurement to Site Assistant.
  • Ensure all assigned Crew have proper sign offs for tasks being performed.
  • Lead and support Crew in tasks assigned to them.
  • In your absence ensure proper supervision of all assigned Crew by asserting a strong chain of command.
  • Perform labour duties as needed.
  • Operate machinery.
  • Inspect and complete Pre-Trip Inspection of all vehicles and machines before operating.
  • Pivot to support other Teams/Departments when directed.
  • Competent radio operation and communication.
  • Hold a key role in Site’s Emergency Response Plan, and direct others in an emergency.
  • Gather information/duties and filter out action items in sequence of most timely and important to be completed first.
  • Stay in your lane - do not make decisions affecting other departments, or take on additional tasks without approval of the Site Director.
  • Know the strength and capacity of equipment and Crew to get the task at hand completed.
  • Know when to ask for help.
  • All liaising with department leads/stakeholders reported to the Site Director in daily debrief of key findings.
  • Complete all Post Show Reports for your department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Include:

  • Proficient in Google: Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar, Meetings and Mail, Basecamp, Shiftboard and SiteDocs.
  • Minimum valid class 5 license and clean abstract with ability to drive standard (manual) transmissions.
  • Ability to demonstrate past experiences of farm work, construction, or vehicle operation.
  • Experience in the events industry is preferred.
  • Excellent ability to motivate self and others.
  • Must be willing to work all scheduled days and associated varied hours in unfavorable weather, including during showtime.
  • Willing to undergo SMF Supervisor Training and uphold all responsibilities and standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs repetitively.
  • Capable of dealing with human waste and other biologically hazardous material without bother.
  • Maintain and execute a high standard of cleanliness and professionalism in scope of work.
  • Capable of maneuvering a large vehicle through crowds and tight areas.
  • Ability to communicate and receive guidance from a spotter when necessary.
  • Lead by example by working steadily, upholding all SMF Policies, treating others with respect, and being responsible for personal actions.
  • Ability to be flexible and pivot to help other departments if directed.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently.
  • Communicate all key findings to the Site Director.
  • Possesses adequate administrative skills.
  • Ability to act in a key role in Site’s Emergency Response Plan.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse workspace without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate:

  • Manager: $25 per hour
  • Assistant Manager: $22 per hour
