Provides prompt and courteous service of food & beverage to guests in the lounge as well as beverage service to servers in the restaurant, while maximizing sales and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2-year bartending experience in a Hotel or related industry.
Post-secondary degree in Tourism or Food & Beverage.
Certified in SmartServ and Food Safe.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
Excellent organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Very strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lift weight up to 70 pounds.
Daily Tasks
Provides all guests with friendly and professional service in a timely manner. Takes guest’s orders in a friendly and courteous manner while suggestive selling. This includes all beverage and any food orders for guests in the lounge area.
Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Prepares the liquor and food orders in a professional manner ensuring strict adherence to local/provincial liquor laws and hotel standards.
Has an excellent knowledge of the wine/cocktail lists, menus, prices, food preparation, current promotions and daily specials.
Promotes guest relations by greeting the guest warmly, engaging them in conversation and using their names whenever possible, using proper etiquette.
Maintains and balances a float, ensuring change is available.
Follows the bar glass washer handling procedures, open & close counts, liquor requisition procedures, keeps par stocks and assists with inventories.
Completes all side work including, bussing tables/bar, cleaning counter tops, doors, storing & locking all bottles, stocking & requisitioning supplies for the next shift.
Closes all checks, confirms all charge postings, cashes out and completes all credit card pre-authorizations.
Establishes guest contact and resolves guest complaints using empowerment guidelines with management approval.
Communicates any work-related issues, conflicts, incidents and accidents to management in a timely manner.
Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Checks bulletin board frequently for posted memos, schedules, announcements and other information, also reads and maintains kitchen board updated for daily specials and out of stock items, confirming it with management.
Reports to work on time and in uniform as scheduled, follows call-in procedures, notifies, and/or gets authorization from management before leaving workstation.
Perform Other tasks as assigned by the management.
