The Quartermaster Eatery is seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of both the main floor bar and the speakeasy cocktail bar. This role is responsible for managing a team of bartenders, managing inventory, ensuring the highest standards of service, upholding the quality and presentation of all beverages, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The Bar Supervisor will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to develop innovative cocktail menus, create a memorable guest experience, and drive sales and profitability. This position requires a strong background in bartending and bar management and keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a fast-paced bar environment, the ability to multitask, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. This is a full-time, seasonal position with potential for summer and winter employment starting at CAD 18-19 per hour plus tip pool and 4% vacation pay.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  1. Create unforgettable experiences for guests by anticipating their needs, personalizing service, and exceeding expectations.
  2. Communicate effectively and efficiently with front-of-house staff and culinary team to ensure seamless coordination between the bar and dining areas and smooth flow of service.
  3. Assist the Restaurant Manager and Restaurant Supervisor in ensuring smooth and efficient dinner service.
  4. Ensure daily bar prep is completed and plan the preparation of any homemade in-stock tinctures and ingredients.
  5. Ensure all silverware, plates, and glassware are clean and polished.
  6. Maintain Quartermaster’s high standards for dinner and drink service.
  7. Accurately record all alcohol and food orders in the Point of Sales system.
  8. Be consistently visible behind the bar or counter to assist guests and support team members.
  9. Maintain guest areas through pre-bussing, marking, and clearing according to proper procedures.
  10. Create seasonal cocktail menus that adhere to costing guidelines and reflect current trends.
  11. Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager and Lodge Manager to accommodate special occasions and events on the lodge side.
  12. Conduct bi-weekly inventory of all liquor and provide accurate counts to the Restaurant Manager and Accounting.
  13. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all restaurant areas.
  14. Train the front-of-house team in cocktail, liquor, and wine knowledge to enhance their service capabilities.
  15. Maintain thorough knowledge of all food, liquor, beer, and wine offerings.
  16. Answer questions and provide recommendations for food and drinks.
  17. Foster a positive and productive work environment by supporting and mentoring bar staff.
  18. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  19. Assist other team members with tasks beyond front-of-house duties.
  20. Adhere to all company and property policies and procedures.
  21. Collaborate with the restaurant’s management team to align bar operations with overall restaurant goals and strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Serving It Right certification.
  2. At least 19 years old.

Special Position Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated experience as a bartender or bar supervisor in a high-end or upscale restaurant or bar setting.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and craft beers, with a passion for keeping up with industry trends.
  3. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  4. Ability to effectively train, inspire, and manage a team.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  7. Clean and professional appearance.

Preferences:

  1. Attention to detail.

  4. Extensive knowledge of the Revelstoke area.
  5. Ability to collaborate with a team of diverse personalities.

Work Requirements:

  1. Ability to exert physical demands, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and tasting or smelling.
  2. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  3. Ability to work around kitchen equipment, machinery, chemicals, fire, gasses, and odors.
  4. Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including walk-in refrigerator/freezer and kitchen line.
  5. Ability to work within a loud and noisy environment.
