Position: Bar Staff
Location: Arts Commons, Calgary area
Address: 205 - 8th Ave SE Calgary, Alberta T2G 0K9

Closing Date: 11 days (Sun, 9 Feb)
Type: Part-time • Wage: $16/hr

Reporting to the House Manager on shift and Bar Operations Supervisor, Bar Staff members are responsible for enhancing the customer experience for all Arts Commons’ patrons and guests.

You are a dynamic professional with strengths in serving alcohol, non-alcohol beverages, concession snacks, and all facets of bar operations. You are service-oriented, charismatic, and friendly. When not serving drinks, you ensure the bar is fully stocked and all areas are clean and organized.

You are a strong team player with exceptional communication skills, required for working within a POS system for processing transactions.

As a motivated individual, you contribute to the success of the organization by providing world-class customer service to all who enter our spaces.

Employment: Part-time (Hourly) with flexible hours.
Hours: Evenings & weekends (with some weekdays) based on a schedule of shows and events.
Start Date: ASAP
Starting Wage: $16

What you will get to do here:

This position is part of the Client & Patron Services team, responsible for bartending duties within the facility’s theatre venues, including: Martha Cohen Theatre, Engineered Air Theatre, Jack Singer Concert Hall, and special events.

You will also contribute to the team-based Front of House environment by providing basic direction to patrons, welcoming visitors, seating patrons safely, and regulating the flow of patrons in and out of the concert hall and theatres.

  • Commitment to providing superior customer service while displaying professionalism.
  • Ability to build good working relationships and possess strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Uphold AGLC regulations with attention to cleanliness and accuracy.
  • Basic math skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments.
  • Strong awareness of surroundings to recognize potential issues.
  • Valid ProServe Certification.
  • A passion for the arts!
  • Applicants must be 18+ years of age.

Nice to have:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • First Aid Certification and valid ProTect.
  • Previous bartending experience, especially for events or in theatre spaces.
