Casual Early Childhood Educator

Casual Early Childhood Educators (ECE's) are required on an “as needed” basis to work at various schools.

You must include three work-related references with your application including a current phone number and email address if possible. Your references can be a current or previous supervisor from your last position or your supervisor from a practicum or volunteer position.

Reporting to the Pre-Primary Facilitator, the Casual Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will collaboratively work with and support the Lead Early Childhood Educator (LECE) within the Pre-primary Program Team, to ensure a supportive and secure environment for young children attending the Pre-primary Program.

The Requirements of a casual ECE include:

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education or working toward an Early Childhood Diploma is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of child growth and development and demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety including personal/physical care and the safe transfer of students.
• Ability to collaborate with members of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Respect for confidentiality and privacy protocols.
• Knowledge of basic computer applications and technology.
• Valid Standard First Aid.

Successful completion of the Criminal Record (including vulnerable sector check) and Child Abuse Registry Search are required before hiring to be a casual Early Childhood Educator.
