Certification Specialist

We are currently seeking a qualified Avionics Certification Specialist. The role will focus on avionics certification for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, ensuring compliance with aviation standards.

Responsibilities
  • Certification Planning & Documentation: Draft, review, and manage certification evidence required for avionics systems, ensuring compliance with aviation standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with Transport Canada (TC), Department of National Defence (DND), or other relevant authorities to develop, review, and submit certification documentation.
  • Avionics Systems Certification: Focus on avionics certification for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including analyzing, testing, and documenting avionics systems and components to meet certification requirements.
  • Certification Evidence & Reporting: Prepare certification evidence such as test reports, analysis documents, and other required materials for regulatory bodies.
  • Project Support: Provide support to engineering and project teams in the certification process, ensuring all avionics-related components meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Certification Review: Review and ensure that certification processes for avionics systems are followed accurately and efficiently.
  • Authority Interaction: Interact with certification authorities for approval and provide clarification on technical and regulatory questions related to avionics certification.

Required Qualifications
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation certification, specifically with avionics systems.
  • Experience with Certification Planning, and preparing aircraft certification documentation for either fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Experience with DND/TC certification at the aircraft level, particularly Type 29 equivalent certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of avionics systems and aircraft certification standards.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory processes, particularly Transport Canada (TC) and DND requirements.
  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing technical documentation for certification purposes.
  • Experience with Type 29 certification or equivalent TC certification process is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering principles as they relate to avionics systems is an asset.
  • Previous experience with rotary-wing aircraft certification processes is an asset.
