Automation Specialist

CIMCO is looking for a regular full-time Automation Controls Engineer / Technologist to join our automation department in our Burlington office.

Role Responsibilities

1. Design, configuration, integration, and implementation of automation solutions for a variety of systems in Recreation and Industrial facilities.
2. Create, implement, test, and document DDC/PLC code and HMI interfaces.
3. Integrate with other automation systems and devices using various communications protocols.
4. Specify and order instrumentation.
5. Develop control panel schematics using Electrical AutoCAD.
6. Manage automation projects as assigned.
7. Program system based on company standards and specifications.
8. Contribute to the continuous design improvement process.
9. Liaison with other Engineers to ensure automation design matches the mechanical and electrical design.
10. Monitor progress of projects and maintain costs within budget.
11. Install, test, and start-up control systems on-site.
12. Provide customer training support.
13. Occasional travel is required.

Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or Community College controls/automation Diploma.
2. Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
3. Exposure to Allen-Bradley or other PLC and Delta or other DDC software and hardware an asset.
4. Ability to work with plant engineers, external vendors, operators, and management to coordinate projects and assignments is essential.
5. Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases.
6. Exposure to control system networking technologies.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Bilingual (English and French / Oral and written) is an asset.
9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
10. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
