Auto Commercial Underwriter

We have a fantastic full-time opportunity in Commercial Lines for an Automobile Underwriter at Aviva. If you have a passion for customer service, an affinity for technical underwriting and the desire to be part of a dynamic hybrid team environment in our Atlantic Branch, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

• Grow our book profitably by leveraging customer relationships, your technical skills and great judgment to quote and place new business.
• Create and maintain excellent relationships with our broker partners, providing best in class customer service.
• Underwrite and retain our renewal base, prioritizing workflow to our service standards, and being responsible for the more complex endorsement activities in accordance with your authority levels.
• Review inspections, and coach/train more junior staff when those opportunities arise.
• Provide your feedback to improve and simplify processes, resulting in effective and efficient results, while maintaining our core values and capabilities.
• Encourage collaboration with various departments within our group, such as claims and business development, enabling a comprehensive approach to underwriting risk and control.

What You’ll Bring:

• Minimum 2-3 years of related experience preferred.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
• CIP or working towards would be considered an asset.
• Technical skill and sound judgment required.
• Solutions-oriented approach, and desire to win with our customers.
• Attention to detail is essential, along with great organization and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and within the team dynamic.
