Job description

Reporting to the Director, IT, the A/V Technician will ensure the setup and tear down of broadcast A/V equipment. Additionally, the A/V Technician will complete patching on live event days and provide support during live events for the Stadium, Arena and broadcasters. Ongoing responsibilities include regular maintenance on all A/V and broadcast equipment including video boards, audio and broadcast systems throughout the stadium, planning for equipment life cycle replacement and leading improvement projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with internal and external parties to ensure proper setup of A/V systems before and during events;
  • Provide all A/V requirements for media covering stadium/arena events;
  • Provide hands-on game-day support for all in-house technical systems during events;
  • Responsible for OES game clock data functionality, testing and distribution;
  • Complete broadcast camera set-up for events;
  • A/V set up and operations for press conferences and staff meetings;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with broadcasters, staff and venue production teams with a focus on excellent customer service and venue system technical expertise;
  • Manage working relationships with vendors who provide support to A/V systems within the venue;
  • Supervise part-time AV staff during events;
  • Assist with general IT networking systems that integrate with A/V systems such as IPTV, IP Networking, Network/VLAN patching knowledge;
  • PC knowledge – Office 2016-19, Windows 10, 11, display extending;
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

What’s Needed:

  • Completion of a post secondary degree or diploma in relevant field or acceptable combination of skills and experience;
  • 3-5 years of operational experience of A/V systems during a broad range of live events such as national sporting events, press conferences, concerts, corporate A/V and other live entertainment;
  • Advanced understanding and troubleshooting of complex A/V equipment and systems;
  • Experience integrating A/V systems with broadcast media systems and streaming devices;
  • Experience with QSC Q-SYS audio DSP system;
  • Strong customer service abilities, work ethic and positive attitude;
  • Experience with patching, cleaning and troubleshooting fiber optic equipment;
  • Operational knowledge of digital audio mixing consoles and broadcast video switchers;
  • Understanding of broadcast streaming encoders and decoders;
  • Working knowledge of RS-232 and RS-485 serial data communication equipment;
  • Able to work in a high pressure, tight deadline, physically demanding work environment;
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including; nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
