Summary: This is an entry level professional legal position performing legal services as a criminal prosecutor in the office of the District Attorney. Work involves prosecuting criminal cases. This position includes assisting law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations and charging decisions. It also includes the prosecution of cases at all levels of the criminal system from Magisterial District Judge to Appellate level disposition. Trials before a jury or a judge are expected. This position is differentiated from similar positions in its class because it is an entry level position and little to no prosecutorial experience is necessary.
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
- Performs legal research and prepares cases for trial or non-trial disposition as deemed appropriate.
- Prepares, drafts, reviews, revises and approves search warrants, arrest warrants, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Works with law enforcement agencies during criminal investigations to guide and assist the on-going investigation.
- Prepares and presents witnesses and evidence to a county wide Grand Jury.
- Evaluates criminal cases for appropriate disposition and submits proposed dispositions to senior attorneys in the office.
- Prepares and presents primarily misdemeanor and potentially low-level felony cases for jury trial.
- Serves as assistant counsel on felony jury trials as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Position has no supervisory responsibility.

Language Skills:

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Member in good standing of the PA Bar.
