What You'll Be Doing
CIBC Capital Markets partners with corporations, governments and institutional clients in key financial centres around the world to develop customized solutions that enable our clients to access capital, expand their operations and actively invest.
The Global Investment Banking group provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations. CIBC’s Investment Banking group of professionals are dedicated specifically to advising clients on mergers and acquisitions as well as equity and debt capital raising activities.
The role of an Associate within CIBC’s Investment Banking group is challenging and fast-paced. It requires a passion for excellence, a desire to work as part of a highly successful team and strong work ethic.
How You'll Succeed
- Mandates - Assist in executing all facets of the group’s mandates. Maintain group’s databases on a current basis.
- Research and Analysis - Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and industry research. Lead industry comparables and precedent transaction analyses.
- Due Diligence - Assist in company due diligence investigations and develop and audit complex financial models.
- Proposals - Prepare client proposals and “pitchbooks”. Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials while assisting in preparing extensive written documents including business development proposals and company information documents for marketing purposes.
Who You Are
- Education - You have an Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics. Completion of and/or intention to complete a CPA or CFA is beneficial.
- Experience - You have attained relevant industry experience. Previous experience in one or more of investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or deal advisory is preferred. Experience with meaningful financial modeling and analysis is required.
- Skills - Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including cash flow and returns analyses. Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations.
- Technical Savvy - Strong quantitative technical skills as it relates to basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), industry technology (FactSet, Bloomberg) and other applicable software.
- Motivation - You are goal-oriented and dedicated with ambitious career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility.
