Description:

The Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Mathematics. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Candidates in all areas of Mathematics, Pure and Applied Mathematics, will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the further development of Mathematics at the University of Toronto and to the expansion of our Department in that direction. They may also enhance their research through collaboration with institutions outside the University of Toronto, such as the Fields Institute.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Mathematics or a closely related field, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek exceptional candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and broaden our existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and a sustained record of research excellence at the highest level internationally. They will be expected to maintain and lead an outstanding, innovative, competitive, independent, and externally funded research program.

Evidence of excellence in research will be demonstrated by a record of sustained and impactful contributions and publications in top-ranked mathematics journals, a submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards, and endorsements by referees of top international stature.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, a teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), and strong letters of reference.

Candidates must also show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and to promoting a respectful and collegial learning and working environment, as demonstrated through the application materials.

The successful candidate will also have an appointment in the tri-campus Graduate Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto. They will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervisions, and to participate actively in the Graduate Department of Mathematics.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
