Salary Range: $100k - $135k depending on experience

This is a great opportunity for a Building Mechanical Engineer Leader to work in the role of an Associate / Principal for Mechanical with this well-established company, as they continue to expand their presence across Alberta.

About Our Client

Our client is a leading consulting Engineering firm with multiple disciplines. They are looking to continue expanding their Mechanical Engineering division and are looking for a motivated leader who is wanting to be involved in operations and business development, facilitating the growth of their Calgary Mechanical department in conjunction with the senior partners. There is great growth potential within this reputable firm.

About the Role

The role will have a broad focus encompassing business development, client management, project delivery, project management and leadership. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the various engineering teams with their project work to ensure excellent service delivery for mechanical engineering services in a consulting environment and on building projects.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership - Act as a Senior Associate and Lead for Mechanical Engineering in this multi-disciplinary firm, managing and mentoring staff
  2. Business development - actively seek out new projects/leads while also nurturing existing clients and relationships
  3. Problem Solving and project planning
  4. Possess an excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards applied to design work, so as to be able to support the various teams
  5. Knowledge of and experience with high-performance and sustainable building practices is preferred.
  6. Nurture and maintain strong client relationships in and for the execution of projects, and as appropriate, support specific sales, proposal, and project efforts
  7. Attend leadership meetings to discuss operations, strategic planning, company success and deliverables
  8. Oversee the design and technical success of building HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. Assist with determining the scope and fees for proposed engineering services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer with registration in Alberta with APEGA
  • 6+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with some leadership experience
  • Experience managing a team preferred
  • Capable with Business development including proposals
  • Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing requirements per building codes, energy codes, and other related standards
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Excellent client and project management skills
  • Strong Leadership skills, able to delegate and manage staff and teams
  • LEED Accredited Professional is preferred but not essential
