EY's Transaction Real Estate (TRE) team is a fully integrated national real estate consulting practice currently looking to add a valuation expert to our team in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. If you have an AACI designation (Vice President) or are an AIC candidate (Associate), TRE offers you an opportunity to work on the most complex and interesting real estate projects in Canada.

Our TRE practice is currently in full growth mode supporting an impressive roster of clients through virtually every business decision related to real estate. The TRE team is uniquely positioned to offer the most diverse set of consulting services in the industry in collaboration with other EY strategic offerings in Tax, M&A, Infrastructure and Business Valuation Advisory. We are truly a one-stop shop!

What we look for

The successful candidate for this position will have strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills, superior analytical skills, demonstrated project and/or people management skills and have been recognized for their "roll up the sleeves" attitude and high levels of creative energy and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of financial models.
  • Valuation of various types of real estate assets and portfolios in support of various types of engagements including core valuation/appraisals, litigation, due diligence and transactions.
  • Synthesize market information to be used in valuation, appraisals, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications.
  • Continuous review of Canadian real estate market trends.
  • Support the team in the preparation of both internal and external presentations.
  • Support the team in business development and marketing initiatives across the country.

Ideal qualifications for this position include

  • Vice President: 7+ years of experience in the real estate industry and an AACI designation
  • Associate: 3+ years of experience in the real estate industry and an AACI designation or AIC Candidate
  • Experience with various types of real estate, including retail, industrial, office, multi-family and land
  • Undergraduate degree (preferably with a focus on real estate and/or finance)
  • A strong understanding of the commercial real estate industry in Canada
  • Working knowledge of Argus
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong computer and financial modeling skills
  • Understanding of key real estate value drivers, risks and opportunities
  • Ability to work in a team environment
