Job Description
What is the opportunity?
You will be the main support for financial advisory to the Capital Market Technology Investment Review Board (IRB) by ensuring strategic decisions are made with a full perspective on financials. You will administer a project benefit framework capturing revenue and cost efficiencies of investments to guide strategic decisions on the Portfolio along with finance controllership over Capital Markets Major Initiatives programs. You will strengthen CM Finance’s influence with initiative owners during the creation of benefits profile through advisory on KPIs and trackable metrics and enforce accountability on project owners for post-implementation assessment.
What will you do?
IRB Advisory
- Leverage benefits framework to guide discussion across Business Leaders to make informed strategic decisions on Capital Markets Technology portfolio.
- Integrate Capital Markets technology costs/resourcing in strategic decisions to fully understand the level of technology investment required.
- Continually monitor portfolio from inception of projects to post-implementation ensuring strategic and financial objectives are met.
- Advise on trajectory of Capital Portfolio from a CM Technology cost perspective ensuring proper financial governance is in place.
PAR Advisory
- Prepare qualitative and quantitative analysis on PARs including in-depth understanding of strategic objectives, investment and benefits, and overall impact to the CM Portfolio.
- Advisory on KPIs and Trackable metrics on PAR accompanied by production of scalable reporting to ensure Projects fulfill strategic objectives.
- Further enhance and build on Finance’s internal capabilities in cost reporting to further proliferate learnings and best practices across CM Finance’s Advisory teams.
- Building subject matter expertise on all PAR costs and benefits to optimize project spend and determine potential synergies in investments.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from the QTS business and CM businesses to further add strategic value by leveraging deep insight of Project costs.
Major Initiatives Advisory
- Lead financial insights for the head of Major Initiatives and the Regulatory Investment Review Board to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management. This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group’s interactions with other CM businesses on a recurring basis.
- Responsible for the financial governance, reporting, controllership and advisory to CM Major Initiatives.
- Support the Project Management Office and represent CM CFO across these programs by aiding in the creation of materials for governance forums (e.g. Steering Committees, Executive Committees).
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Experience in complex wholesale business activity, namely a thorough understanding of Capital Markets businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns.
- Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information.
- Experience in management reporting and analysis, stakeholder interactions and relationship management.
- Strong team and people management abilities, and ability to play a leadership role across a wide group of peers.
- Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on a continuous basis.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize groups to deliver on common goals.
- Able to consistently exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks quickly.
- Proactive and persistent in issue resolution.
Nice-to-have
- Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instruments.
- Experience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics.
- CPA or CFA or Finance MBA.
