The Academic Human Resources Office provides support and expertise to academic units on faculty development and support, and the interpretation and application of policies and procedures governing academic appointments.
The Academic Human Resources Office supports academic administrators and their staff on the full spectrum of Academic HR matters, including recruitment, appointments, tenure, continuing status, promotion, leaves, workload, PTR and retirement. This office also supports academic units in respect of academic unionized employee groups including Teaching Assistants and Course Instructors (CUPE 3902, Unit 1), Sessional Lecturers and Writing Instructors (CUPE 3902, Unit 3) and Postdoctoral Fellows (CUPE 3902, Unit 5).
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Academic Human Resources, the Associate Director, Faculty Development and Support, leads a team to develop and deliver mental health professional development initiatives and programs for faculty and academic staff at the Faculty of Arts and Science.
The Associate Director, Faculty Development and Support has a leadership role in building the Division’s capacity to identify and support faculty and academic staff in crisis and for ensuring comprehensive coordination, development and implementation of high-risk, safety, crisis and issues response. The incumbent works collaboratively with the offices of Campus Safety, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Student Affairs and other central University offices, as well as senior leadership in the academic and administrative units and colleges of the Faculty of Arts and Science. Drawing upon an in-depth knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant University policies and processes, the Associate Director is responsible for assessing, intaking and/or establishing a case management plan for critical issues pertaining to faculty and academic staff. The Associate Director will draft, develop and implement alternative resolution pathways and restoration plans.
