The Opportunity:
As an Associate Consultant, Health & Benefits Consulting you'll be a key player in delivering exceptional client service, supporting consultants and vice presidents in managing relationships and addressing group insurance inquiries. Your role involves participating in financial analyses, insurer negotiations, and ensuring compliance with critical documents. You'll also contribute to actuarial evaluations, assist in market exercises, and conduct research on various insurance topics. This role offers the opportunity to grow professionally and make a meaningful impact on client success.

A day in the life:

  • Actively supporting consultants and vice presidents in managing client relationships
  • Ensuring quality control and adherence to service standards
  • Assisting with financial analyses and strategic negotiations with insurers during renewals
  • Ensuring the accuracy and compliance of key documents, including financial statements, contracts, and brochures
  • Contributing to the creation of specifications during market exercises and analyzing incoming proposals
  • Playing an active role in the selection of insurers
  • Participating in actuarial evaluations for post-retirement and employment plans (excluding pension plans)
  • Conducting research on various group insurance topics in collaboration with your team
  • Assisting in the preparation of meetings with clients and insurers
  • Helping set budgets and project deadlines
  • Staying informed about other specialties and services within the firm
  • Participating in continuous training and development, and sharing knowledge to support team growth
  • Contributing to internal initiatives that foster innovation and team involvement
  • Keeping up-to-date with legislative changes at both provincial and federal levels
  • Staying informed on industry news and best practices, and sharing insights with clients and team members

Who you are:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in the group insurance field
  • A university degree in actuarial science
  • Progress towards or possession of FSA and FCIA designations (an asset)
  • A strong desire to expand your knowledge and contribute to team success
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Knowledge of accounting standards for post-retirement benefit plans (an asset)
  • Well-organized, proactive, flexible, and self-motivated
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
