Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Associate Registrar and Manager of Student Services, the Assistant Registrar, Student Experience and Academic Advising is an integral member of the Office of the Registrar and Student Services (ORSS) team. The Assistant Registrar will provide day-to-day operational management of front-line registrarial services, equity programming for students, academic advising for undergraduate students, and experiential education and student service programming across all academic programs. The Assistant Registrar is also responsible for administering and evaluating student engagement programming, such as the KINections program, and academic success initiatives delivered by the ORSS. These programs and experiences have been created for the successful transition and engagement of incoming students, current students, and graduating students to university life and beyond, and contribute to their ability to progress through and complete KPE programs. The successful incumbent will be expected to accompany students on travel abroad experiences within academic course(s) to ensure safety and provide support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences.
- Developing and implementing plans to enhance student engagement activities.
- Developing and implementing student retention plans that support strategic objectives.
- Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students.
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program activities.
- Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in student service advising and in a student services environment.
- Expert knowledge of and minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with student information systems, e.g., ROSI, Student Advising System.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in experiential education and placement programs.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in student service program development and evaluation.
- Proficient with all standard office technologies, e.g., Microsoft tools, especially Excel, SharePoint, presentation software.
- Proven record of working independently, analyzing data, and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service and advising experience with a proven record of tact, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills.
- Expert knowledge of the policies and procedures of the University of Toronto, in particular, undergraduate studies.
- Excellent team leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct clear presentations.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of academic and administrative staff and applicants/students.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well as a team member in a fast-paced, professional environment.
- Ability and inclination to keep technical skills up-to-date and relevant.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 15 -- $95,627 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $122,290. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
