The Department of Philosophy & Classics at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Ethics, broadly construed. We are seeking a scholar who is prepared to contribute to a dynamic and inclusive academic environment through teaching, research, and service, with a particular emphasis on ethical theory and applied ethics, to begin July 1, 2025 (start date flexible).

Duties

Duties will include teaching a range of courses at the undergraduate level, including introductory courses and core ethics courses (PHIL 270: Ethics, PHIL 272: Contemporary Moral Issues, PHIL 273: Biomedical Ethics, PHIL 276: Professional Ethics), upper-level courses in ethical theory and applied ethics, supervising honours students, and contributing to the department’s core curriculum and interdisciplinary teaching commitments, including courses required by programs in Kinesiology and Health Studies, Justice Studies, and other university-wide electives. Duties will also include maintaining an active research agenda and contributing to the scholarly community through publications and conference participation, and participation in service activities at the departmental, faculty, and university levels commensurate with appointed rank, while supporting the development of an inclusive and diverse academic culture.

Position Requirements

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or be close to completion; will have evidence of high-quality research, publication, and a promising research agenda; as well as demonstrated teaching effectiveness and a willingness to teach from the courses listed above. The candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching and research, and a dedication to fostering an inclusive environment for students and colleagues. An interest or experience in developing curricular content that integrates perspectives relevant to Indigenous communities or underrepresented groups is a priority for the Department.
