Position Description
The McGill University Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics and Mental Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invite applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Research) in the general area of molecular neurobiology in health and disease. The position is based at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI), Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This position will be a part of the Ludmer Centre Single-Cell Genomics Brain Initiative in partnership with the Douglas Mental Health Institute, the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro) and the LDI/JGH. This will be a three year renewable Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The successful candidate’s research program will benefit from the state-of-the-art core facilities and the on-site JGH Bio-portal including the diverse biobanks and clinical teams together representing valuable resources to study brain health and disease.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be an emerging research leader launching independent research programs focused on fundamental neurobiology, including but not limited to, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and brain disorders/diseases including brain tumors. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish and carry out an innovative and externally funded research program that integrates with existing strengths within the LDI and the Department. They will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate classroom-based teaching.
