The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure track position in Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin as early as January 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $79,132-$92,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with demonstrated potential for developing an independent, externally funded research program, producing high-quality research, and developing collaborations. We seek applicants with a focus in one of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Networks and Security, Quantum Computation, and Human Computer Interaction.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in their subject area and other fundamental areas of Computer Science, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses in the newly approved Foundations of Data Science graduate certificate program. In addition, the successful applicant will show potential to supervise research students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. As our Computer Science courses and labs utilize Linux, knowledge of Linux is an important asset.

Our Team:

It is an exciting time for Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge, as all of our Computer Science programs have experienced significant growth over the past several years. The faculty members that make up the Computer Science program are active researchers in a diverse set of areas, including database management, natural language processing, VLSI design, image processing, optimization, quantum computing, information and network security, software engineering, and data mining in music and sociolinguistics. Faculty are also actively involved in teaching for both the main Computer Science programs, as well as several combined degree programs with Geography and Environment, New Media and the Dhillon School of Business. The department has established masters and doctorial programs in Computer Science, as well as a thriving undergraduate student culture where students are involved in both research activity as well as clubs and programming contests.
