The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening of a second position in veterinary anesthesiology. UCVM invites applications for a full-time or part-time Veterinary Anesthesiologist in either the Teaching and Research stream or the Teaching focused stream. Full-time applications are preferred. UCVM offers the possibility of achieving tenure through both traditional (Teaching and Research stream) and teaching track positions, with the latter not requiring development of research. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching and Research (tenure track), Assistant Professor, Teaching (tenure track), Associate Professor, Teaching and Research (with tenure) or Associate Professor, Teaching (with tenure).
The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2025 or a mutually agreed upon date.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred but board eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency trained candidates will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for immediate licensure in the Province of Alberta.
The University of Calgary has a Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital and clinical time is spent in clinics in the community. Clinical opportunities are wide and varied and the successful candidate will be given guidance and support in establishing relationships with local clinics.
