The McGill University Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff as an academic clinician at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The Department of Pediatrics is a leader in academic medicine. Our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
The MCH is a 150-bed hospital with an 18 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (12 acute, 6 step down), and a 52-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented at the MCH. The Division of Pediatric Critical Care offers state-of-the-art care using a multidisciplinary team approach for critically ill or injured neonates, children, and adolescents. The unit is a major provincial, national, and international referral center. The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine currently has 10 members and 1 associate member including 3 full professors, 3 associate professors, and 4 assistant professors.
In addition to full-service tertiary care, the unit’s members have proven academic strengths in multiple fields – health sciences education, epidemiology, health services, and patient safety/quality improvement, post PICU follow-up, organ donation and transplantation, and knowledge translation research.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Contract Academic Staff with the profile of an academic clinician. The incumbent will be a staff physician within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH), McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). We are specifically seeking a Pediatric Intensivist with Neurocritical Care expertise, focusing on multimodal neurological monitoring and cerebral hemodynamics.
The successful candidate will have clinical and academic expertise on cerebral blood flow bedside monitoring and brain-based resuscitation targets in patients with shock states related to: cardio-cerebral coupling, neurovascular coupling, brain-heart-lung interactions, and hemodynamic support targets to optimize brain perfusion during shock and cardiac arrest states.

Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates must be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.
