Wage determined upon experience, hourly, up to 40.00 Hours per week, Gratuities.
Education:
Completed High School, some post-secondary an asset.
Credentials & Certificates:
Provincial Responsible Beverage Service Certificate: Smart Serve, Serving It Right Certificate, Pro Serve program; Food Safe Certificate, First Aid Certification is an asset. Junior Leadership or Hospitality Management training is an asset.
Experience:
Experience in a fast-paced working environment, fast food, family or fast casual dining is preferred (3 years or more).
Languages:
Speak English, Read English, Write English.
Business Equipment and Computer Applications:
Squirrel or similar restaurant Point-of-sale system. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Windows and Office Programs (Word, Excel).
Work Setting:
Restaurant, Dining Room, bar/lounge.
Food and Beverage Serving Skills:
Serve food and beverages, general plate service, present bills to guests and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards. Describe menu items including daily specials for guests, advise on menu selections, ability to upsell items. Ability to adhere to Smitty’s Steps of Service standards.
Additional Skills:
Guest service oriented, address guests' complaints or concerns, assist guests with special needs, enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations, balance cash and record sales, clear and clean tables, trays and chairs, load bus pans and trays, set tables, replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas, extra cleaning duties as assigned.
Supervisory Experience:
Food and beverage servers, kitchen and food service helpers, cooks.
Ability to Supervise:
11 – 15 people, staff in various areas of responsibility.
Specific Supervisor Skills:
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food, ensure food service and quality control, maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage, prepare and submit reports.
Additional Supervisor Skills:
Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures. Assist with daily reconciliation of system reading, cash outs, gaming paperwork, scheduling, assist manager with labour controls, confident knowledge of emergency procedures, and working safe legislation.
Essential Skills:
Reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory, finding information, computer use, continuous learning, conflict resolution. Good interpersonal skills are key.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, standing for extended periods. Occasionally lifting up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
