About the Opportunity:

Reporting to and in collaboration with the Manager, the Assistant Manager provides clinical and professional leadership. The Assistant Manager participates in the planning and provision of care and identifies issues that have potential or actual impact on Continuing Care Intake services and keeps the Manager aware and up to date of any significant events. The Assistant Manager plans, co-ordinates and participates in the delivery of service through Continuing Care Intake. The Assistant Manager acts as a role model and patient care advocate and exhibits team building and leadership skills. The Assistant Manager demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills and acts as a resource for all team members and ensures quality care is provided in a family-centered manner.

About You:

  1. Graduate of a recognized LPN program
  2. Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Registered Nurses (NSCN)
  3. Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical nursing experience
  4. Progressive leadership and/or supervisory experience
  5. Demonstrated leadership skills in a healthcare environment and ongoing professional development
  6. Evidence of commitment to a healthy workplace and the use of best practices in building/sustaining staff competencies, ensuring good communication and involvement of staff and clients/residents in decisions which affect them
  7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and clients
  8. Strong human resource management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  9. Ability to work within Microsoft Office
  10. Demonstrated organizational skills and a high degree of initiative and self-motivation are required
  11. Flexibility and creativity are required to meet the challenges in a dynamically changing environment
  12. Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  13. Evidence of the ability to understand and apply the principles of knowledge exchange and change management to support change within the service
  14. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and enhanced customer service
  15. Ability to identify and report budgetary pressures to the manager and assist the manager in identifying mitigation strategies to keep spending within budget
  16. Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  17. Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours: Permanent Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly. Hours of work may include days, evening, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits: $37.61 - $49.97 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
