Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced and professional healthcare leader for the role of Assistant Manager, Respiratory Therapy within the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of Respiratory Therapists and support staff as assigned. A key focus of this role involves the coordination and organization of assigned human, financial and material resources to ensure effective program delivery, and the identification and resolution of issues that impact service to the site which may include managing employee performance and attendance matters. In this Assistant Manager position, you will be the first line of contact for assigned staff to resolve problems related to staffing, patient care or other service concerns. You will also ensure that adequate staff are scheduled and available on a 24-hour basis.

Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy. 5 years current relevant experience within an acute care setting. Demonstrated leadership in Respiratory Therapy. Excellent and current knowledge in all clinical aspects of service delivery within Respiratory Therapy. Must be able to integrate and apply clinical excellence in the day-to-day operations.
Additional Required Qualifications:Computer skills essential. Familiarity with applicable legislation and professional Standards of Practice. Demonstrated optimism and enthusiasm about the Respiratory Therapy Department with commitment to continuous quality improvement. Demonstrated managerial competencies that include excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical thinking, interpersonal and group management skills, change management, organization and project management skills.
