SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, Distribution Centers for Ontario, the Assistant Human Resources Manager will provide Human Resources and payroll support to the Ontario distribution centers.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the distribution centers by identifying and providing HR solutions to business issues and guidance on HR practices, policies, and procedures.
- Execute various HR programs.
- Work closely with various internal HR departments.
- Advise and guide management on employee relations issues related to performance management, absence management, and investigations into policy adherence.
- Support and participate in departmental restructuring and organizational design changes through effective change management activities.
- Oversee a payroll team responsible for the integrity of the HR/payroll management system.
- Ensure the application of established controls to monitor compliance, including ongoing examination of the system through audits and analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate administration of the weekly payroll process for all Ontario distribution centers.
- Ensure appropriate application of HR legislation and regulations.
- Responsible for the development of direct reports.
- Ensure department customer service standards are applied and develop services or service-improvement processes for areas of responsibility.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree or equivalent work experience.
- 3 - 5 years related experience; CHRL/CHRM designation is an asset.
- Experience in supervising, including performance management.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong abilities in coaching, investigating, time management, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Working knowledge of ESA and Human Rights.
- In-depth knowledge of HR system functions; SAP is an asset.
- Retail industry knowledge is an asset.
