About the Role

The Assistant Head of School is a key member of the school leadership team, working across divisions to support faculty, staff, and students. This position requires a strategic thinker who can align resourcing, priorities, and goals while ensuring seamless integration of the school’s mission, vision, and guiding statements.

This role supports a variety of Strand Leaders, Programme Heads, and Divisional Leadership Teams, ensuring clarity in skill development, data analysis, communication strategies, and team collaboration. The AHoS will also work closely with both curricular and co-curricular senior leaders and directors, contributing to the school’s ongoing growth and innovation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Leadership: Actively evaluate and enhance the impact of learning and teaching across the school.
  • Visibility & Engagement: Be present at school events, fostering strong relationships with students, staff, and the broader community.
  • Strategic Oversight: Lead and manage key operational functions, including:
    • Running the weekly calendar review, ensuring alignment of events and resources.
    • Developing and maintaining the annual school calendar, ensuring Ministry compliance and alignment with other school systems.
    • Assessing and maintaining the master bell schedule, balancing student well-being, facilities, and resources.
    • Leading whole school stakeholder questionnaires and associated reporting.
    • Overseeing BC Ministry of Education inspections and evaluations.
  • Policy & Governance: Maintain and update the Student and Family Handbook, school policies, and risk and safety protocols.
  • School Culture & Events: Plan and lead whole school assemblies, collaborating with divisional leaders, events, and performing arts teams.
  • Crisis & Risk Management: Serve as Incident Commander for all critical incidents and play an active role in training and emergency preparedness.
  • Student Life & International Programs: Oversee international trips and exchanges, ensuring alignment with international-mindedness, language development, outdoor education, athletics, the arts, and service learning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with various Board Committees, including Risk and Safety, Buildings and Lands, and Nominations.
  • Campus Operations: Oversee parking, security, campus access, and uniform management, collaborating with Facilities and Risk Management teams.
  • Teaching & Coaching: Maintain a small teaching and/or coaching commitment and serve as an advisor in the Middle or Senior School.
  • Professional Development: Partner with the Head of School and Deputy Head of School to design and implement faculty training, professional development days, and staff meetings.
  • Advancement & Admissions: Support the Development team in donor cultivation, student recruitment, and retention strategies.

The current salary range for this position is $145,000 to $165,000 based on years of experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
