We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager to help lead our dedicated team in Puslinch, ON. Working out of our 87,000 sq. ft. facility, this position will help support the Engineering Manager in guiding the Engineering department, compromising of 6 staff. The ideal candidate is someone hard working who values accountability and integrity with a creative and innovation driven mindset.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage technical documents and data in the department, reviewing any changes made
  • Manage and co-ordinate the development and revisions of Pentalift equipment owner’s manuals and installation manuals
  • Manage, review and co-ordinate product designs and technical documentation in relation to liability issues and concerns
  • Manage and control generation, issuance and distribution of Engineering Change Notices
  • Manage and develop Confirmation, Concept and Approval drawings
  • Ensure Bills of Materials are fully complete and accurate
  • Work collaboratively to provide relative technical information for special equipment cost estimation
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings, to determine design factors; Co-ordinate the required activities within the department
  • Compile and analyze test data to determine effect of machine design on various factors such as pressures, speed, horsepower, and operation time
  • Responsible for the input accuracy of the ERP process and procedures related to the department
  • Manage and support post sale customer service support and troubleshooting
  • Work cooperatively and diligently with other departments as required; Assisting in the resolution of technical function and documentation related issues
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Process production orders, design custom and special equipment, while optimizing and updating standard products
  • Prepare production packages including mechanical and electrical drawings, Bill of Materials, purchase requisitions and other quality control documents
  • Integrate creative and innovative ideas into the design of Pentalift equipment while adhering to applicable standards and regulations
  • Complete sales and approval drawings for customers as well as processing of custom product estimates
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement of parts
  • Troubleshoot and modify designs, providing recommendations for corrective actions as required
  • Other related duties as required

Credentials:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree of Engineering in Mechanical, Industrial Design or a related discipline; or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing solutions in a manufacturing setting. Dock equipment or industrial lifting equipment design experience considered a strong asset
  • Previous experience mentoring and guiding junior engineering staff considered an asset

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge and working experience related to Hydraulic and Electrical technical design
  • Strong knowledge and experience of FEA analysis
  • Working experience and skills using SolidWorks, AutoCAD and/or Draft Sight software
  • Working experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Experlogix Configure software considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of use of Adobe InDesign considered an asset
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in order to design in line with industry standards
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem solving and skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
