MASSIV Automated Systems, an advanced technology-based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated/robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry. Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding. Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.
We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry! Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.
The Assistant Mechanical Supervisor acts as a liaison between engineering and the workshop; and leads a team of Electricians to wire and integrate tooling and associated equipment into robotic assembly lines. The Assistant Electrical Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that the assembly line is bought-off electrically and shipped to our customers facilities as per the program timeline.
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare work and set up personnel for start up of each shift
- Prioritize workload schedules to meet job deadlines
- Identify and troubleshoot problems on new or existing equipment and follow up with engineering on any updates or changes
- Communicate and inform Electrical Supervisor and Team Members of any changes in job information, deadlines and maintenance requirements for equipment and plant
- Assign and inspect the work of electricians/apprentices/electrical helper and initiate corrective measures to meet standards
- Report any concerns and work-related matters to Electrical Supervisor and/or other department Supervisors
- Determine material and labour estimates and maintain and update the skills and training matrix
- Maintain positive contribution towards customer satisfaction, quality and Company profitability
- Supervise activities of Electrical Department providing instruction and guidance
- Maintain time sheets and attendance records
- Ensure all safety hazards, defective equipment or unsafe situations are addressed immediately
- Contain, report and have safety hazards fixed by qualified people immediately
- Know how to properly lockout all energy sources, including stored energy, in your area
- Instruct and monitor your Team to ensure they are following the safety rules, standards and procedures at all times
- Know what type of Personal Protective Equipment is required for the jobs in your area and ensure that your Team uses Personal Protective Equipment properly
- Promote the "Open Door" Environment
- Understand, promote and work by Magna's Philosophies, Corporate Constitution and Employee Charter
- Ensure regular communication, employee development, teamwork, and quality work through team meetings (both on and off site) and forward meeting minutes to Plant Manager
- Achieve the continuous improvement benchmark of 80% or higher on each category and no less than 50% on any individual question on the Employee Opinion Survey
- Complete annual performance appraisals and return to Human Resources by the scheduled deadline
- Provide each Team Member with performance feedback on a regular basis and involve your Supervisor as needed
- Maintain MAFACT matrix and meet other MAFACT requirements for the department
- Update skills and training matrix
- Ensure electrical build standards are followed and updated
- Make sure all redline markups are transferred to a PDF file and placed in a job folder
- Ensure ISO Standard Operating Procedures are followed
- Report Quality issues or concerns immediately and take appropriate corrective actions
- Perform other related duties as required
Who we are looking for
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recognized Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician
- 5 to 10 years experience in automotive tooling

- Must be able to travel and do overtime as required
- Knowledge of MAFACT and BricsCad
- Knowledge of Workday is an asset
