Assistant Director Of Care - Full-Time Position

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of Care is responsible for providing resident-centered care, the day-to-day management of nursing programs to meet applicable legislative requirements, adhering to policies and procedures, and collaborating with key stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees Nursing Team based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication.
- Oversees quality improvement measures within a resident-centered interdisciplinary environment that promotes independence and quality of life for residents.
- Oversees clinical care processes to ensure that resident-centered care plans are developed to meet the care needs of residents in the home.
- Leads the implementation and monitoring of required clinical programs such as Skin and Wound Care, Falls Prevention, Continence Care, Pain Management, Palliative Care, and Responsive Behaviour.
- Actively participates in committees according to the Terms of Reference and areas of responsibility.
- Ensures care plans are developed, updated, reviewed regularly, and followed while ensuring that resident’s care is evaluated continuously.
- Audits resident care plans on a quarterly basis and ensures documentation accurately reflects the resident's care requirements.
- On a scheduled basis, audits and reviews the resident care charts of newly admitted residents with special attention to residents identified as high risk. Works closely with Charge Nurse to ensure that the appropriate documentation is in place as per policy.
- Coordinates and ensures care processes for the RAI-MDS Program, Nursing Rehab, and Restorative Care Program are implemented, including evaluation outcomes and monitoring of performance metrics.
- Assists the Director of Care with recruiting, supervising, appraising, and disciplining assigned staff. Ensures that all assigned staff receives proper orientation, in-service education, and on-the-job training.
- Performs nursing duties and ensures clinical excellence at all levels in the home.
- Maintains a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent post-diploma education preferred.
- Current registration with the Provincial College of Nurses.
- A minimum of three years experience working in a long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of Long-Term Care Act and Regulations.
- Experienced leader with the ability to coach and mentor team members.
- Vulnerable Police Criminal Reference Check.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet use, and computerized documentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.
