Standard Hours Bi-weekly: 75

Classification: MG01

Salary: $155,209.00 - $216,252.00

Union: MGT

Days Off: Saturday/Sunday

Travel: 10%

The opportunity:
Health and Social Services has an exciting opportunity as the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Continuing Care Division. At the Department of Health and Social Services, our mandate is to promote, protect, and enhance the well-being of Yukoners through a continuum of quality, accessible, and appropriate health and social services, guided by the Putting People First report. Reporting to the Deputy Minister, this ADM position provides strategic leadership in planning, developing and managing division programs, develops business plans consistent with government direction, takes a proactive approach to identifying and managing trends, issues and challenges, and fosters a culture of innovation and adaptability within the health system.

Create and lead meaningful change:
Health and Social Services is currently seeking an individual with a unique combination of knowledge, senior experience and leadership competencies who can deliver on the key accountabilities identified for the role.

As a member of the department’s senior management team, the ADM will:

  1. Use evidence-based system level processes to guide the health system work of improving, integrating, and aligning health and wellness services.
  2. Create a client-focused culture, proactively build and maintain strategic, collaborative partnerships across the organization and with key stakeholder groups.
  3. Establish a workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement, ensuring all employees understand how their work contributes to achievement of departmental and government goals and objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Completion of post-secondary education with a focus on health science administration, degree in related health care field, or public administration.
  2. Senior management and diverse leadership experience (preferably in a health care setting).
  3. Experience leading strategic planning initiatives.
  4. Considerable and recent experience dealing with politically sensitive and complex issues.

Candidates who have education and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered.
