Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join our accounting team located in our Winnipeg Head Office. You will have recently completed your CPA designation and are looking to expand your skills in financial accounting, budgeting and reporting, while assisting in the oversight of the accounting function for one of our operating divisions within Richardson.
Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Controller will help to lead the accounting function for one of our operating divisions.
- Supervise individuals at the Accounting Analyst levels.
- Lead the month-end accounting functions for one of our operating divisions, including the presentation of monthly financial reporting and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly rolling forecast for one of our operating divisions.
- Work with the Manager to monitor risk and ensure adherence to key internal controls.
- Assist in the year-end audit and financial reporting.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives including but not limited to, process improvements through system implementation to improve how we work and developing more processes and reporting to focus on the balance sheet.
- Work with various groups to provide meaningful reporting to help make business decisions.
Qualifications:
- Professional designation in good standing (CPA).
- 3+ years of experience, preferably working in a complex environment would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, mentor, and supervise a small group of staff.
- Well-developed organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and ability to work independently.
- Solid experience using various financial tools and systems including ERP software, advanced MS Excel features, PowerQuery and PowerBI.
- Keen interest in experimenting with new technology with a continuous improvement mentality.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to relate to varying levels of stakeholders and explain complex concepts.
