Pre-Kindergarten Educational Services was originally developed as a CBE pilot program in 2007. The company now operates as an independent, family run business and has made impressive strides by expanding to six locations within Calgary, providing comprehensive early childhood education in its three program divisions: Passages Pre-Kindergarten, Quest Kinder Care, and Odyssey Out of School Care.

All programs operate with an emphasis on "Learning Through Play", integrating various subjects like literacy, math, and STEM within both thematic and open-ended programming. Field trips and special in-class presentations are also incorporated to enhance the child’s overall early educational experience, making learning dynamic and fun.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Assistant Director who is looking to invest in a long-term career with our company. In this role, you will provide leadership to our 6 location teams by offering guidance and support to Program Leads, overseeing curriculum implementation, program planning, and administrative management, while contributing to our mission of creating meaningful educational experiences for children ages 3 - 12.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly compliance visits across all locations.
  • Maintaining knowledge of child care licensing in order to ensure protocols are being met and maintained.
  • Fostering positive relationships with staff
  • Correspondence with parents to address concerns as necessary
  • Offering strategies to staff for conflict resolution and supporting Program Leads with effective problem-solving skills
  • Mentor and train new staff on licensing and curriculum protocols
  • Oversee Program Planning across locations
  • Attend workshops and report back with summaries / presentations
  • Overseeing fundraising campaigns
  • Updating program documents such as newsletters, staff schedules, program plans, etc.
  • Maintaining regular communication with Directing team with feedback on location visits, staff satisfaction, and child progress

Job Requirements

  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Level 3 Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification
  • Current First Aid
  • Valid Police clearance including vulnerable sector search dated within the past 6 months
  • Minimum 2 years (preferably 5) supervisory experience at a licensed child care centre, managing a team and daily operations
  • Experience working with children at both the Pre-Kindergarten age group (3-5) and the Primary School age group (5-12)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy and competency
  • Technological proficiency in Google Office Suite / Microsoft Office
  • Must have a personal computer
  • Must have personal vehicle (mileage allowance provided)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
