We are currently searching for an Assistant Chief Power Engineer to join our Bow Valley Square Team in Calgary, Alberta.
Scope:
The Assistant Chief Power Engineer is critical to the smooth operation and maintenance of our building systems and oversees a team of building operators and building service providers. The Assistant Chief Power Engineer has a strong level of knowledge when it comes to building systems and equipment and plays a key role assisting with day-to-day projects and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the daily operations and maintenance of all building related systems including the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Coordinate external vendors for planned and emergency work
- Assign and monitor maintenance activities and projects amongst building operators
- Work with building operations teams to improve service delivery to tenants
- Assist with managing inventory of supplies and materials while keeping adequate stock to complete all tasks
- Perform and mentor building operators on preventive maintenance duties and inspections as recommended by equipment manufacturers
- Recommending improvements to the preventive maintenance program on an ongoing basis by developing and maintaining effective building-specific maintenance procedures
- Working to improve energy efficiency while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Immediately responding to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
- Complying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits
- Ensuring management team is informed of current building operations
- Assist with budget preparations, including vendor proposals, analysis of expenses and compilation of materials for management
- Schedule, track and report to Chief Power Engineer required safety training for building operators
- Complying with uniform dress code while working on the property and while visiting the property
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of five years related experience and/or trade school training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A valid “Universal” level certification for CFC and HFC based refrigerants (EPA Section 608); to service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ozone depleting refrigerants to the atmosphere or any similar combination of education and experience
- Further appropriate license/permit for trade is a plus, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License, City Licenses, Operators License, Steam Engineers License, etc.
- Job may necessitate passing a government clearance for specific agency that is necessary component of job functions
- Basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel & Word, and knowledge of CMMS software
- Experience in operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
- Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written); organization skills, technical proficiency; problem solving and decision-making skills; and interpersonal skills
Working Environment And Physical Demands
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technology such as computers, phones, and photocopiers
- May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments)
- May require shift work and/or on call duties
- Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices
- Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
