THE ROLE

The Assistant Buyer plays a key role in supporting the buying team to drive sales and profitability. This role assists in product selection, vendor management, inventory control, and market analysis to ensure the right merchandise mix is available to meet customer demands. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for retail and merchandising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Buyer in selecting and purchasing merchandise aligned with the company’s strategy.
  • Conduct market research and analyze sales trends to support purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with planning teams to optimize stock levels.
  • Support the execution of promotions, markdowns, and pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, e-commerce, and store operations.
  • Track and analyze sales performance, providing reports and recommendations.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in product details, quantities, and costs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging products.
  • Assist in sample management, product presentations, and seasonal assortment planning.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Passion for retail, fashion, and consumer trends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
