We are looking for an experienced Asset Management Support Manager to join our Engineering Standards & Asset Services team. In this essential role, your help will drive initiatives to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our terminal and vessel assets. As part of a dynamic asset management team, you will collaborate across departments to align asset management strategies with BC Ferries’ long-term objectives. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing asset performance, managing maintenance costs, balancing asset risks, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The Role

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Services and Asset Standards, your key areas of responsibility are:

  • Helping lead the development and implementation of comprehensive asset management strategies that align with BC Ferries' business goals and ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of assets. This includes monitoring existing policies and amending or creating new ones.
  • Overseeing the implementation of asset management strategies and plans, ensuring that they are executed effectively and efficiently across the organization. Support is needed with respect to the data hierarchy, asset criticality, spare parts and maintenance strategy for all vessels and terminals.
  • Helping establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor Asset Management initiatives. Using data analytics to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Performing quality assurance of AM system or asset information including periodic site asset verification(s) – a few times per month, as necessary.
  • Identifying and assessing risks associated with asset management strategies and develop mitigation plans to minimize potential disruptions and losses. The AM resource will work to create a standardized terminal and vessel asset condition and risk assessment tool.
  • Collaborating with finance and operations teams to manage the asset management budgets effectively, optimizing costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ensuring that all asset management strategies adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, procurement, finance, safety, risk and insurance, IT, strategy, communications, and other stakeholders to align asset management strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Maintaining accurate records of asset management strategies, performance metrics, and outcomes. Generate reports and communicate progress to senior management and stakeholders.

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Asset Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable Asset Management education certificates (Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) and/or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP)) and continued professional education required.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience employed as an Asset Management Professional.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working on a variety of assignments in a technical/ analytical role including not less than 3 years providing end-user support problem solving in an asset intensive organization.
  • Proven experience in asset management, preferably in a maritime or transportation setting.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management standards and guidance documents, such as ISO 55000, ISO 14224, IAM, GFMAM, etc. and how best to apply them.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Able to set short-term operational goals and directly support departmental objectives.
  • Able to address undefined, complex issues that impact multiple teams or divisions.
  • Familiarity with marine industry regulations and safety standards a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in asset management software and data analysis tools such as Maximo, Oracle, PowerBI and other relevant software.
  • Experience using Microsoft suite of office tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Additional information

The target salary range: $95,600 - $119,500 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
