The TD Legal Department is comprised of corporate/commercial and litigation lawyers and law clerks with varying areas of expertise tailored to meet the legal needs of the Bank's various business units. The Legal Department is committed to delivering to its clients the highest level of expertise, service, responsiveness and flexibility.
Reporting to Senior Counsel, Canadian Disputes and Investigations, for TD Bank Group, the articling student will be an important member of the Canadian Legal Department. This is a challenging position that will work closely with many members of the Canadian Legal Department.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe articling student can expect to be engaged by any lawyer in the Legal Department in the following tasks depending on skills and client group workflow:
- Legal research and writing
- Preparing legal memoranda
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents
- Reviewing and summarizing documents and files
- Attending TD Legal Practice Area meetings and internal client meetings
- Attending Court where possible
- Other reasonable activities as deemed appropriate
The student can expect work in the following areas of law:
- Bankruptcy
- Corporate/Commercial
- Litigation
- Real Estate
- Securities
- Personal Property Security Interests
- Employment
JOB REQUIREMENTS- LLB or JD from a Canadian law school or a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation.
