Area Manager (Civil Construction)

Job Description

The Area Manager is responsible for overall execution of multiple projects, client relationships, and business development with major civil and industrial partners, as well as promoting strong safety values while providing supervision and guidance for overall objectives, critical issues, and new concepts for the project teams, leading and supporting a team, as well as monitoring budgets & financial performance.

Responsibilities

1. Lead, manage, and coordinate civil construction projects within the assigned area.
2. Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
3. Supervise and mentor project managers and site supervisors, ensuring efficient operations and resource management.
4. Monitor project schedules and budgets.
5. Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
6. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
7. Monitor construction progress, assess potential risks, and implement corrective actions when needed.
8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices across all projects.
9. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to management, clients, and other stakeholders.
10. Strategic planning: Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

Qualifications

1. University or college degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
2. Proven experience in a management role in the civil construction industry (10+ years preferred).
3. P. Eng would be considered an asset.
4. Strong leadership and team management skills.
5. Strong communication skills.
6. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
7. Background in construction management and a solid understanding of construction processes and best practices.
