Position Overview

We are seeking a talented Architectural Technologist with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Sketchup (Lumion experience would be an asset) to join our team. This position will involve being part of a design team who are tasked with creating conceptual designs for a variety of exciting new projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing full sets of Building Permit plans, construction drawings and development permit plans. (City of Calgary development permit process and knowledge of preparing a development permit package will be considered an asset). The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist with new product development. This position requires someone who is eager to work collaboratively in a team environment and has strong technical knowledge of detailing and working drawings.


Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drafting of complete and accurate home plans based on pre-sold or builder specified standard plans, modified as required to encompass all contract addendums and plan markups.
  • Review and manage site plans to illustrate property layout and placement of structures, incorporating relevant details such as landscaping features, utility connections, and setbacks.
  • Coordinating with building consultants (engineers, suppliers, etc.) to obtain the information and documents required for permit submissions and construction packages.
  • Initiate and oversee the submission process for architectural control approval, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and project specifications.
  • Preparing conceptual design blacklines, elevations and working drawings for new standard designs.
  • Reviewing home plans for compliance with Architectural Controls and Guidelines.
  • Assist in building, maintaining, and organizing the standard Master Plans and Details library.
  • Staying current on industry trends and leveraging opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Responding efficiently to inquiries from municipalities, site supervisors, and consultants.
  • Create comprehensive, accurate residential construction documents using Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Develop and maintain models, floor plans, elevations, and section drawings.
  • Ensure that all drafted documents comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, addressing feedback and revisions as necessary.
  • Work closely with the project management team to meet project timelines and milestones.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation for easy reference and future use.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Residential Design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of Diploma in Architectural Technology.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD & 3D modelling.
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints, and as-builts.
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential construction and design principles.
  • General knowledge of N.B.C.- Alberta Edition building codes and proficiency in local municipal bylaw regulations in Alberta.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
  • A portfolio showcasing recent relevant residential drafting work is a plus.
