RMH Drafting & Consulting Ltd. is an architectural drafting firm that produces high-quality drawings for Architects, Developers, and Homeowners. Established in 2009, we have collaborated with a variety of clients on hundreds of projects within the city of Calgary and its neighboring communities. Our projects include large multi-family developments, commercial and industrial, custom residential, and renovations or post-event repairs. We work with our clients at all stages to develop an accurate and effective set of drawings that achieves their vision. Over the past 14 years, RMH’s dedication to producing high-quality drawings, on time and on budget, has established our reputation as an exceptionally comprehensive service.

We are currently looking for an Architectural Technologist to join RMH’s team and contribute to our growing success. The right candidate has experience drafting large multi-family or commercial buildings. They are interested in working on a variety of different projects to develop a well-rounded skillset and are considered to be a confident team-player who is organized and professional, with excellent communication skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary functions of an Architectural Technologist are: the production of quality construction drawings based on project specific requirements, completing project tasks on schedule and within budget, and delivering high quality drawings that can be easily interpreted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction and easily utilized by construction contractors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain project files. Compile Progress Sets of drawings weekly, and at certain project milestones. Document all communications with outside parties. Document and distribute all critical project information to appropriate team members and outside parties.
  2. Maintain regular working hours. Record activity to timesheet weekly.
  3. Maintain professional and congenial relationships with architectural and support staff.
  4. Attend start-up meetings. Verify site-specific requirements and understand project criteria, design intent, scope of work, and client expectations.
  5. Identify jurisdictional requirements i.e., applicable codes, submittal/review processes, etc.
  6. Develop “cartoon set” of drawings in advance of preparation of construction drawings. Set up project directories, x-refs, naming conventions, title blocks, details sheets, etc.
  7. Prepare and submit drawings for review. Evaluate comments, make corrections, and resubmit as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Diploma in Architectural Technologies from a Canadian technical College or University.
  2. Experience with City of Calgary or other municipal land use bylaws.
  3. Knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards.
  4. Understanding of architectural design and related fields.
  5. Knowledge of codes. Able to successfully complete the permitting process with aid and supervision of the Project Manager.
  6. Experience and training in Revit and AutoCAD.
  7. Excellent communication and organization skills.
  8. Demonstrate oral and written English communication skills.

ASSETS:

  1. 1-Year or greater of experience in architectural practice preferred.
  2. Knowledge of Sketchup, Lumion, or other rendering software.
  3. Experience in onsite construction.

Start Date: Immediate

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $44,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
