Job description

The Architectural Technologist leads the preparation of enclosure renewal and deep energy retrofit architectural documentation and oversees the implementation and management of BIM processes and technologies. The technologist will create existing building documentation, construction drawings and details, graphic images and drawings related to building science concepts. During construction, the technologist may contribute to the construction administration process by performing field reviews and producing site instructions. They may also assist with condition assessments for building enclosure systems in collaboration with internal and external project teams. The ideal candidate thrives in an active environment, has a passion for architecture, building façade systems, and building science, and has a strong desire to learn and coordinate with a diverse group of consultants and trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and accurately model existing buildings using available drawings, site pictures, and/or measurements.
  • Modify the base building model to generate design and construction documentation, under the direction of the project designer.
  • Assist with selection and creation of building details for use in Tendering and Construction packages.
  • Maintain a drawing set through the various phases of the project and effectively manage design changes.
  • Understand submission processes and be able to generate the application documents.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assist with site work – field measurements, field verification, and documentation.
  • Provide project documentation guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering the firm’s expertise in Revit and CAD.

Qualifications

  • Architectural Technologist, Architect or Engineer with 10+ years of experience in the creation of documentation for the building industry.
  • Degree or Diploma in Architectural or Building Science.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in using Revit to efficiently produce high-quality construction documentation.
  • Ability to produce high-quality building enclosure details and reference them back to the drawing sets.
  • Ability to set up, manage and maintain firm drafting standards.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Keen interest in Architecture and Building Science with a strong desire to learn.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills, an ability to multi-task and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to coordinate designs with consultants and stakeholder groups.

Benefits and Perks

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 – $95,000 annualized for a full-time role. Salary is dependent on various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership.
