Apprentices shall be paid at the following percentage of the fully qualified bargaining unit Painter position:
Fully Qualified Painter Rate of Pay: $41.51 per hour, Pay Grade 11
Applicants who are currently formally completing their apprenticeship are encouraged to apply and would be hired based on their current progress through the program.

We are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Painter to join our dynamic and highly skilled team. Our ideal candidate has an interest in growing as a painter, eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, comfort working in all weather conditions, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and positive working environment. This Apprenticeship Training Program is a joint effort between the Corporation of the City of Victoria and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local No. 50. The program focuses on developing skilled trades professionals.
POSITION FUNCTION
As an Apprentice Painter, your role involves active involvement in the application, maintenance, and removal of decorative and protective painted and coated finishes. Working under the guidance of experienced journey-level painters, you will develop fundamental skills and knowledge in the realm of painting and coating applications.
Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will develop theoretical and practical knowledge in safe work practices, organizational techniques, and effective use of tools and equipment. You will also hone such skills as preparing surfaces for painting; applying paint, coatings, finishes, and wall covering procedures; and implementing colour theory. The depth and breadth of your skillset development will increase in complexity over the course of your apprenticeship.

As you progress in your apprenticeship, you will work towards achieving these qualifications, which will contribute to your growth as an Apprentice Painter.
Experience:
An Apprentice Painter requires at least 6 months of basic knowledge and experience related to tasks and responsibilities similar to those outlined in the position. This may involve hands-on engagement through projects, formal training, and work exposure.
This experience will provide a solid foundation for your growth as an Apprentice Painter.
