Hevvy/Toyo Pumps North America is a Canadian-owned pump manufacturing and distribution company located on the Fraser River in Coquitlam, BC. We are a family-owned and operated business that has been operating for over 40 years. We are looking to hire an Apprentice Millwright to join our growing team. The millwright is a key position within our company as they are responsible for assembling, repairing and troubleshooting all pumps and parts. They are who bring our innovations and creations to life!

We are looking to develop and sponsor an apprentice millwright towards achieving their Red Seal working with Hevvy Pumps. Responsibilities:

  1. Follow bill of materials, precise instructions/procedures to assemble and test the various custom cantilever, submersible and horizontal engineered pumps.
  2. Alert the Shop Supervisor to any fitting problems and errors or discrepancies in drawings.
  3. Assist in the training and cross-training of Hevvy/Toyo employees, including mentoring junior millwrights.
  4. Provide on-site field technical support, when requested, to our customers.
  5. Operate stand up and counterbalanced forklift, in a safe manner for moving and storing goods.
  6. Safely rig and operate overhead cranes.
  7. Set up piping and any other required testing equipment.
  8. Align motors, coupling drives and v-belt drives.
  9. Install and remove bearings; both heating expansion and shrink fitting.
  10. Perform all engineering tolerance measurements (shaft run out, bearing endplay, impeller clearance checks).
  11. Dismantle and provide detailed analysis of pump failure including required parts replacement and corrective actions.
  12. Complete appropriate reporting.
  13. Provide assistance in other areas of shop/shipping – receiving and warehousing as required, accommodating holidays/illness/vacation of other personnel.
  14. Ensure that the documentation compliance is completed to ISO 9001 standards.
  15. Participate and follow OSSE safety policies and programs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Level 1-2 Apprentice Millwright schooling completed or Introduction to trades.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Previous experience with rigging, OH crane and forklift operation.
  • Mechanical aptitude through personal interests/hobbies.

Assets:

  • Experience working with rotating equipment.
  • Previous experience with centrifugal pumps.
  • Basic knowledge of 3 phase electric motors.

Pay: $27.00-$45.00 per year
