Apprentice Electrician

Position Summary

We are looking to add (2) technical apprentices to our Lethbridge AB BAS team. Working with a qualified Journeyman, install building automation control systems in new and existing buildings, including retro fit projects in a construction environment. Learn about building systems integrations and become a building performance expert.

Key Responsibilities

1. Read and interpret floor drawings, circuit diagrams, shop drawings, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
2. Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
3. Pull low voltage controls and data communications cabling through conduits and ceiling spaces.
4. Terminations of low voltage wiring, panels, network, and devices.
5. Install, replace and repair electrical control equipment such as relays, temperature sensors, actuators and panels.
6. Commission newly installed control systems through point-to-point verification and sequence checks with a qualified lead technician.
7. Identify any issues through standard troubleshooting procedures of relays, controls devices, and low voltage electrical circuits.
8. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
9. Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.

Qualifications

1. Indentured Electrical Apprentice in Alberta (1st-4th Year) with conduit experience.
2. Graduate of post-secondary technical or engineering program or relevant technical background an asset but not required.
3. Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.
4. Strong troubleshooting skills.
5. Ambitious learner who wants to progress in their career for building systems.
6. Experience working with low voltage.
7. Experience with HVAC, building automation systems and VFD’s an asset.
8. Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics.
9. Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral.
10. Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work.
11. Commercial / Construction installations experience.
12. Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
