This role will contribute to the architecting, evaluation, improvement, and support of system solutions that utilize the organization’s application engineering portfolio. The goal of this job is to ensure that customer requirements can be successfully met or exceeded. In this role you will assist in the system integration of machine vision and fixed industrial scanning and specific engineering discipline to provide high-performance, validated, and tested solutions to partners and customers. Work is guided by more senior application engineers.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office 2 days remote.

Location: 8275 Trans-Canada Highway, Saint-Laurent H4S 0B6

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a technical resource, addressing key challenges related to the performance of Zebra’s products and solutions in specific application scenarios
  • Uses existing imaging toolsets or refinement of existing tools to solve novel or increasingly complex imaging problems
  • Implements testing and troubleshooting strategies
  • Analyzes key test data to identify issues and propose potential solutions
  • Collaborates with more senior AEs, as well as sales, engineering, and product management teams to identify and execute resolution
  • Provides input to the analysis of strategic customer projects to ensure that they are effectively executed
  • With guidance from senior colleagues, engages in software design, hardware analysis, integration work, and/or solution development for proof of concepts
  • Helps maintain company vision labs, as well as remote testing infrastructure, in order to ensure the ability to respond to product/solution challenges rapidly and effectively
  • Builds product/solution demonstrations based on the guidance/planning of more senior Application Engineer/s to ensure that products/solutions are represented in a highly professional and effective manner at internal and external events
  • Performs benchmarking to understand the competitive marketplace
  • Provides critical technical product feedback to engineering, sales, and product teams
  • For high priority opportunities, may be asked to assist sales team/partners with deployment and/or testing on site at customer locations
  • May be asked to assist with the development of technical training and/or solution documentation

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering or related field is required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working with fixed industrial scanning and/or machine vision solutions and commensurate knowledge of technology, products, and marketplace
  • Solid working knowledge of C++, C, C#, Python programming languages.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and functional in French.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, familiarity with Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical engineering concepts like schematics, wiring, hand tools, etc.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% a year for tradeshows, trainings, partner visits, customer visits, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of basic imaging concepts including how to set up cameras, lensing, lighting, filters, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or logistics processes and environments a plus.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Certified Vision Professional-Basic a plus.
