Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Application DBA with a strong background in Oracle and SQL Server databases to join our Platform OPS team. This individual will play a critical role in guiding application support teams during database incidents, reviewing database upgrades, and evaluating database migration changes. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for reviewing and suggesting standards for database run books. Will have extensive knowledge of database architecture, including Backup, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Performance tuning, and data archiving strategies. Will need periodic on-call support and shift work required.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing and administering Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with cloud environments, especially Azure and Oracle Exadata.
  • Ability to lead and mentor application support teams during database incidents.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Required Skills:

  • Oracle Database Administration: Experience with Oracle 12c, 19c, and higher versions.
  • SQL Server Administration: Experience with MS SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, and higher versions.
  • High Availability (HA): Experience with Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, and clustering.
  • Disaster Recovery (DR): Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Log Shipping, and Always On Availability Groups for DR setup.
  • Backup and Recovery: Experience with RMAN for Oracle, SQL Server native backup, and third-party backup tools like Veritas NetBackup.
  • Performance Tuning: Proficient in SQL query optimization, execution plans, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning for both Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Database Migration: Experience with database upgrades, patching, and migrations between Oracle versions and SQL Server versions, as well as moving databases to the cloud (Azure, Exadata).
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata Cloud and Azure SQL Database.
  • Monitoring Tools: Proficiency in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Foglight for SQL Server, and other monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Partitioning: Advanced knowledge of partitioning strategies in Oracle (range, list, hash partitioning) and SQL Server (table partitioning).
  • Automation and Scripting: Experience in writing SQL scripts, PL/SQL, and T-SQL for automation of DB tasks, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Security Management: Understanding of database security models, user management, roles, privileges, and access control for Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks, replication issues, and resource contention.
  • Tools for Health Checks: Familiarity with tools like AWR, ASH, SQL Profiler, and Extended Events for performance diagnostics in Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Log Management and Analysis: Experience in log analysis using Splunk and Dynatrace for monitoring database health and application performance.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Oracle and SQL Server database administration.
  • 2+ years of experience with monitoring tools like OEM, FogLight, Splunk, and Dynatrace is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as Azure and Oracle Exadata.
