About the Workplace
As an Application Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping our technology strategy and ensuring that our Temenos applications are scalable, secure, and highly available. You will be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge software applications that support our financial services offerings. Your contributions will be essential in driving continuous improvement and innovation within our organization.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office or Ontario home based office. Vancouver-based candidates may be expected to come into office at least once per week.
A Typical Day Would Involve:
- Lead the design and architecture of Temenos applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements, security protocols, compliance standards, and vendor guidelines.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to define the technical direction and roadmap for Temenos application development and modernization.
- Oversee the technical delivery of Temenos applications across the full lifecycle: from conceptualization and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
- Evaluate third-party software solutions and recommend integration strategies that meet business needs while adhering to architectural standards.
- Partner with business analysts, product managers, and other business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure applications are optimized for the underlying infrastructure and meet performance, security, and availability.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the financial services and technology sectors.
- Ensure that applications adhere to financial industry regulations by incorporating appropriate controls and security measures into the architecture.
- Promote and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including application refactoring, process automation, and performance optimization.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in software architecture and application development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or architectural role within a financial services environment.
- Certifications such as TOGAF.
- Deep understanding of the Temenos Core Banking System.
- Understanding of Canadian banking and/or payments ecosystem.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying Temenos enterprise-level financial applications.
- Experience in agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
- Proficiency in the platform full stack (Web, Application, Database).
- Strong knowledge of application architecture patterns (e.g., layered, microservices, event-driven, and service-oriented architecture).
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native application design.
- Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

The salary range for this role is $102,200.00 to $153,200 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity.
