Job Description
Understand IBM API Connect and Datapower system architecture and concepts. Develop and implement API Connect and Datapower infrastructure & solutions. Implement, build, monitor, restore service, change, support, and handle day-to-day activities of BMO API Connect or DataPower system. Communicate and coordinate with multiple partners or projects. Implement application release, deploy changes to the production environment, and provide system support and facilitate Incident Management. Participate in testing cycles to ensure the ability to deploy and operability of infrastructure and applications. Should be available to provide on-call support for production issues as and when required.
Responsibilities
- Strong skills on IBM Datapower and API Connect systems; experience in building or initial setup of API Connect/Datapower system is preferred.
- Strong skills on IBM Datapower and API Connect system troubleshooting; able to triage APIs, Datapower services, security, and network-related issues; experience on Datapower operational dashboard and API Connect analytics is preferred.
- Strong knowledge in PKI system or security; understand HTTPS/TLS mechanism, data encryption or decryption, and certificate lifecycle management.
- Solid understanding of network knowledge; understanding network routing, subnet, network load balancing design, and able to conduct and analyze packet capture.
- Basic knowledge of Linux OS; able to manage file systems, shell profile management, user, storage, vulnerability, and security management.
- Work with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, Artifactory, Bamboo, and Ansible to streamline build/deployment automation.
- Develop bamboo plans and Ansible templates.
- Strong Shell scripting for package build or application deployment automation.
- Monitor and track performance, and address any issues.
- Work with development teams to build solutions that use enterprise monitoring/logging, are “self-healing”, and require minimal to zero maintenance.
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
- Break down strategic problems, and analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Lead/conduct incident recovery and detailed root cause analysis.
- Deploy manual code to production environment.
- Facilitate or complete analysis, design, and configuration of viable solutions to highly complex technology problems that would improve data center and support activities.
- Provide end-to-end technology support including computer, applications, network, and storage, and root-cause analysis.
- Drive and/or promote new processes, systems, technology, and operations and expanded capabilities for performance, with the flexibility to align to the unique requirements of the project teams and deliverables.
- Proactively monitor system performance and identify operational improvements, ensuring smooth and consistent customer and business partner delivery.
- Support deployment activities, managing implementation issues to resolution.
- Provide initial triage, investigation, and ensure fast turnaround times on issue/incident resolution.
- Provide inbound call assistance to end-users for application, technical, and IMACD needs leveraging the knowledge base and/or run books available.
- Collaborate and engage with the appropriate areas across the bank.
- Develop or help to develop the knowledge assets required for the operation.
- Promote adherence to standards and industry best practices.
- Develop an understanding of organizational interactions and complexity to engage with the appropriate matrix areas.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the operational capability, such as sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice, and networks across technology.
- Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Typically 4-7 years of work experience in IT or business environment and/or B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems, math, or business.
- Strong skills in IBM Datapower gateways.
- Strong skills in IBM API Connect.
- Strong skills in IBM Datapower Operational Dashboard.
- Good to have DEVOPS CI/CD skills.
- In-depth skills in Ansible, Bamboo, and Bitbucket.
- Understanding of Information Technology operating processes used for systems to ensure effective delivery including but not limited to IT Operations mandatory operating standards for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Good to have MQ skills.
- Knowledge of support and operations practice, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
- Technical and/or business functional knowledge of systems, tools, timing, and dependencies.
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Salary
$74,800.00 - $138,600.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
