Remuneration:
Prince County Hospital
Prince County Hospital, located in Summerside, PE is the second largest acute care hospital in the province. The 110-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient, and ambulatory care services.
Daily Rate:
- Monday-Friday: $3,100
- Saturday-Sunday: $2,500 (on call, no day list on weekend)
- Day list NOT on call: $1,500
- Day list post call, NOT on call: $2,000
Contract hourly range of $145.00 - $165.57 depending on years of service; or Fee For Service.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Queen Elizabeth Hospital, located in Charlottetown, PE, is the provincial referral centre for specialized hospital services. The 243-bed facility provides emergency, surgical, inpatient, and ambulatory care services.
Daily Rate:
- Monday-Friday: $4,400
- Saturday-Sunday: $3,700 (on call, no day list on weekend)
- Day list NOT on call: $1,600
- Day list post call, NOT on call: $2,100
Contract hourly range of $145.00 - $165.57 depending on years of service; or Fee For Service.
Locum Supports and Reimbursements:
Short-Term Locum (1-10 days worked per month)
Locums coming from out of province (not Island residents) are also eligible for the following:
- Coverage of accommodations during the length of the locum stay on Prince Edward Island, up to a maximum of $300 per night with receipts, or $200 per night without receipts.
- $100 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period.
- Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered.
- Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and tolls (bridge and road) reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare.
- Coverage of car rental up to $1,400 per week with receipts.
- Reimbursement of MCC-AMR Application Fee and PEI Application Fee.
- Registration fee with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
- Coverage of registration fees with the Medical Society of PEI.
Long-Term Locums (Working at least 10 days a month for no less than 6 months with a defined start and end date)
Locums coming from out of province (not Island residents) are also eligible for the following:
- Accommodations: 10 + days coverage per month – up to $5,000 per month with receipts or $3,000 per month without receipts.
- $50 per day living expense stipend will be provided for the days worked during the locum period.
- Paid actual travel time ($50/hour) from home province to Prince Edward Island and return will be covered.
- Cost of one return travel to Prince Edward Island based on an economy airfare to a maximum of $2,000 with receipts. If traveling by car, mileage will be reimbursed as determined by PEI Treasury Board Policy and tolls (bridge and road) reimbursed with submission of receipts. Reimbursement for travel by car is not to exceed the cost of economy airfare.
